Among them, the navigation gestures were among the most talked-about feature. You could now easily swipe from the bottom to go home, swipe from the left or right side to go back, or swipe up from the middle and hold to open the recent app menu. Samsung also adopted this new Android version in the form of One UI. As soon as users got the said update on their devices, trying out the new gestures was on top of there minds.
Prior to the update, you could hide the navigation bar for all applications without any issues as such. But upon getting the Android 9 One UI update, the said option was nowhere to be found. This confused quite a lot of users and their queries could be found all across the Samsung Community forums. So if you are looking for ways to rectify this, then this guide will come in handy. Today, we will show you how to hide the navigation bar in Samsung One UI. After hiding them, you could then easily try out the new navigation gestures. Follow the below steps.
Hide Navigation Bar in Samsung One UI
Across the Reddit forum as well, many users had the same issue. In this regard, we will be sharing two different methods that will help you out. Try out the one that suits your requirements.
Method 1: Via Settings Menu
The easier of the two methods. All Samsung devices running OneUI (or even OneUI 2.0) has this functionality baked in that allows you to disable or hide the navigation bar. Here is how it could be done:
- Head over to the Settings menu on your Samsung device.
- Then go to the Display section and tap on the Navigation bar.
- By default, you will see the Navigation Buttons option selected. All you have to do is change your selection to Full-Screen gestures.
Once you have made the selection, you will see the More options button will now be visible. Within that, one important feature is the Back gesture sensitivity. The issue with the back gestures was that it conflicted with some of the app’s hamburger menu (like the one you get in the Play Store, on the left of your screen). So using this option, you could tweak its sensitivity accordingly.
Similarly, there will be an option of Gesture Hints. If you are accustomed to these gestures, then you could disable the said toggle. Then from now on, you wouldn’t be distracted with these hints. With that said, these were the steps to hide the navigation bar in Samsung One UI using the Settings menu.
Method 2: Hide Navigation Bar using ADB Commands
If you are among the tech enthusiasts you like to play with technical jargon, then this section might be of interest. Although this method doesn’t offer any additional benefits than the first method, still, there is no harm in knowing a couple of different methods in achieving a said task. On that note, here is how to hide the navigation bar in Samsung One UI using ADB.
