The Kim Kardashian: Hollywood spin-off follows in the same cartoony style as the first, although the fashion-focused narrative roleplay game is meant to be played in portrait mode – a handy change for those of us playing on the go.
If you’ve managed to make any headway in Kendall and Kylie, you’ve learned that making it big as a social media star and re-applying your lip gloss every other minute takes more work and resources than you’d think.
Here are some tips for getting more out of your game!
On Game Cheats and Hacks
For those of you who want the quickest way to regain your energy, phone date and time setting cheats do work with this game. This means you’ll regain full energy by turning your phone time ahead a day and restarting the game.
Note that this will work every time, and if you’re in the middle of a mission, it will end it. If you’re going to do this, it may take multiple attempts to get free energy.
If you’re using an iPhone:
Open the Kendall and Kylie game app. Go back to home screen > settings > general > date & time Turn off “Set Automatically”. Change the date and move it forward by one day. Go back to the game and then close it as fast as possible by double pressing the home button and swipe up on the game. Re-open the Kendall and Kylie app. You should have full energy again.
Note: There are a number of sites that offer Kendall and Kylie hacks offering unlimited money, K games, unlimited energy, and the ability to unlock all clothes. I would not recommend trying out these hacks, and many of them claim that they’re in the process of “hacking the app” before it’s even connected.
(Update: The time cheat may have been fixed already, many users are reporting that it will work for only a few seconds before the energy bolts disappear again.)
Getting More Out of Your Energy Bolts
There are plenty of things you can do to while playing – and that don’t require you to drop real-life dollars.
- Start missions with full energy and only do one at a time.
You want the highest star performances you can get out of your missions, and they have time limits. If you go into one with low energy, you’re probably going to end up with a low star performance. This is also why you should only try to do one mission at a time – not only will you use your energy more effectively, you also won’t lose any followers.
- Higher energy activities give bigger rewards.
Try to skip out on the mission activities that only require 1-2 energy bolts. If you keep to the missions that need 5 energy bolts, these consistently give a bunch of green stars towards your mission star and extra experience.
Getting Extra Energy
You’re going to need those energy bolts to complete actions in any given mission, so it’s important to keep as many of these as possible.
- Tap everything.
Pretty much every new location you come to will net you some resources, including energy. You won’t need to enter any of the buildings, but try tapping everything you see while scrolling through the outside area.
Added bonus? These refill every 15 minutes or so, so make sure to revisit then whenever you have time!
- Buy a pet.
You can buy a pet while you’re at your apartment, and the earlier you do the more rewards you’ll get out of it. You can buy a hamster in your first apartment that will give you free resources when you go home to pet it. Check in on it frequently to load up on more rewards.
Getting More Followers
In your eternal goal to become as great a social media maven as the Jenner girls, you’re going to have to grow your audience just like them.
- Be seen with Kendall and Kylie.
Every time you have a chance to do something with these girls, do it. As can be expected, every little thing the Jenner girls do in-game is automatically gold. To show off their social media prowess, they’ll generally help you out by pushing out a post or a selfie of the interaction that will net you extra likes and follows.
- Finish your missions with high scores!
If you don’t get a good score, you’ll actually lose followers, so remember never to go into these timed missions with low energy. When you finish a new mission, it goes up on social media for new people to see, like, and share.
By the same token, remember never to start a new mission that you don’t have time to finish - this is easier said than done, because missions can take up to 8 hours, and you have to complete the actions within that amount of time. This is not a game you want to fall asleep in the middle of playing!
- Play with your friends!
If they join you in-game, they can like or share your selfies or other media in-game to help your audience grow, just like in real social media. You can do this by connecting your Kendall and Kylie game to Facebook.
Getting More K-Gems
You’re going to need these to unlock new items and is the main currency of the game. You can buy them with in-app purchases, but there are a number of ways you can earn them without spending a dime.
- Achievements
The most obvious way to earn K-Gems is to complete different Achievements in the game (you can check out the list by tapping on the list icon in the lower right corner, and then on the Achievements icon in the upper right). One of the easiest ways is simply to buy new stuff.
- Watch ad videos.
You can occasionally earn an extra K-Gem by watching a short video clip. The easiest way to access these videos is by trying to buy something you don’t have enough K-Gems to spend - you’ll get an extra option in the menu to watch a video.
- Connect the game to Facebook.
The game offers extra rewards when you connect the app to your Facebook account, but if you have other friends who also play the game, it will connect you as friends in the app as well, so that they can help like and share your in-game social media posts for more rewards as well!
- Finish high energy cost missions.
These will drop when you complete missions, but you’ll get the most out of high energy missions – and make sure you do them well! If you finish with about 4+ stars, you’ll get more K-Gems out of the mission!
A note on in-app purchases
The in-app purchases you can make in this game can get pricey. Starting prices for resources like K-Gems and different packs are $4.99 USD on iOS and $1.99 on the Google Play Store, but these charges can ramp up, and fast, since the prices go up to $99.99 on both platforms. If you’re giving this game to a child or teenager to play, you can disable in-app purchase in your phone settings to avoid any unpleasant surprises on your next credit card bill.
