One of God of War’s coolest secrets is that it features the Infinity Gauntlet in-game. Of course, it’s not called that officially due to legal reasons, but everyone knows that the “Shattered Gauntlet of Ages” is a timely reference to Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War. Considering it’s shattered, it takes some work to get it back up to spec, but it’s well worth repairing as it winds up being one of the coolest and most powerful things in the game.
The first step is getting the gauntlet itself. This is done by completing two optional missions in the action game. First up is the “Fafnir’s Storeroom” quest, which is unlocked after one of the key story chapters, “The Sickness.” After completing it, players just have to do complete the “Family Business” favor, and they’ll be rewarded with the broken gauntlet.
Of course, an Infinity Gauntlet isn’t of any use without the necessary Infinity Stones. In God of War that means equipping the Shattered Gauntlet of Ages with three out of six rare enchantments (via Gamesradar). The six special enchantments are the following: Andvari’s Soul (received for completing the “Second Hand Soul” quest), Asgard’s Shard of Existence (received for defeating Valkyrie Rota in Helheim), Eye of the Outer Realm (found in the Secret Chamber of Odin), Ivaldi’s Corrupted Mind (received by defeating Valkyrie Olrun in Alfehim), Muspelheim Eye of Power (purchase from the dwarves in Muspelheim), and Njord’s Temporal Stone (received for defeating Valkyrie Queen Sigrun).
Keep in mind that players don’t need all six of them. The three special enchantments that are easiest to get are Andvari’s Soul, Eye of the Outer Realm, and the Muspelheim of Power. So, those that just want to get the Shattered Gauntlet of Ages working should grab those three and call it a day. In order to install them, players will need to upgrade the gauntlet twice at the dwarves.
Upgrading the gauntlet is easier said than done as it’s quite expensive. In total, the upgrades will cost 145,000 hacksilver, five dragon tears, and 33 dust of realms. The hacksilver and dust of realms (the reward players get for closing off Realm Tears) are easy enough to obtain, but the five dragon tears are scattered throughout the in-game world. The first is gained automatically by completing the “Inside the Mountain” story mission. Three additional ones are tied to the following side quests where you’ll need to free dragons: “Otr’s Imprisonment,” “The Fight of Fafnir,” and “The Fire of Reginn.” Finally, players can get the final Dragon Tear by going to the top of the Forgotten Caverns after they complete the main story.
So… it’s quite the journey. But once players have finished the long quest of collecting the necessary items, they can equip their new weapon and blast some enemies away with God of War’s Gauntlet of Ages!
